Walid has coached pitching to thousands of participants including students, startup founders, managers, executives and government officials (e.g. Ambassadors). His approach focuses on helping people to find their own style, practice at their own pace, gain confidence and self-improve. He combines notions from entrepreneurship, design thinking, storytelling, networking, acting, improvisation, public speaking and psychology. Walid believes that pitching is similar to riding a bike or swimming, everyone can learn it. Walid has designed and delivered public talks (15-60 minutes), workshops (2-9 hours), executive training (1-2 days) and semester long courses in schools and universities (6-8 weeks). His content is flexible and straight-forward. He is used to coach on the spot to various audiences from diverse backgrounds and age groups (from 7 to 70 years old).
His background is in entrepreneurship and sales. He has worked 15 years in hospitality before receiving his Masters in Entrepreneurship from Aalto School of Business. His startup, Barisma, was among the first teams in the Startup Sauna – Finland’s and the Baltic’s top accelerator until 2018. For a decade, he has been actively involved in entrepreneurial communities and hubs in Finland and Europe. In addition, Walid has recently traveled and coached in South East Asia – particularly in Thailand and Vietnam. Walid’s network is wide covering various industries and sectors such as ICT, games, design and art, education, cleantech, healthcare and many more.
His last job was in Executive Education, where Walid has designed world-class entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship programs and management training courses such as incubators, accelerators, leadership development in creative industries (games and gamification, ICT, design and art, film etc.), innovation in education programs for leaders in education, entrepreneurial ecosystem development, pitching competitions and government level programs. Walid has been lecturing in universities (inc. executive education), training in SMEs and large companies, speaking in various forums and conferences, mentoring startups and executives, and judging pitching competition e.g. Slush Global Impact Accelerator Semi-Finals.
Walid enjoys meeting talented, ambitious and passionate people, and strives to help them to adopt pitching for life as a tool for succeeding in their projects or ventures. His book “Pitching For Life” is the result of a decade as an entrepreneur, as a student in Aalto University learning about the theories of entrepreneurship and writing his Master’s Thesis titled “Productizing Finnish Education For Export”, as a program manager in executive education and as an active member in entrepreneurship communities around the world. Therefore, Walid embodies four entrepreneurial disciplines: 1) the practice of being an entrepreneur, 2) the academic side as a masters student, 3) the management training and corporate intrapreneurship 4) and the startup communities and hubs. In addition, He has held hundreds of workshops and talks about pitching and entrepreneurship and has a global perspective on pitching as a topic. He has many lessons and stories to share from his experiences, knowledge and expertise.
